  Rehabilitation

Bethel Lutheran Home recognizes that rehabilitation is not provided by one department or service alone. Therefore, Bethel provides the following 3 levels of rehabilitative services:
  Skilled Nursing Care
  1.  Skilled Therapy evaluation and services are provided for patients who meet the following requirements:

  • Physician referral for therapy services
  • Potential to progress
  • Functional goals or outcomes
  • Services require the skills of a therapist to perform

Skilled Therapy services provided at Bethel Home include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech/Language.

  2.  Rehabilitative Nursing services are often implemented  following discharge from a skilled therapy program in order to "fine tune" functional performance of daily living skills and mobility. This level of rehabilitation may also be appropriate for a resident who does not qualify for skilled therapy. These programs may be carried out by rehabilitation staff or by nursing personnel following the recommendations of rehabilitation staff.

  3.  Maintenance Programs are used to help a resident maintain his/her highest practical level of function and mobility. These are carried out by nursing personnel with recommendations by rehabilitation staff as needed. Bethel's "Walk-and-Dine" program is an example of this.

Bethel Home's Rehab Department also provides evaluation and skilled therapy services for residents who have experienced the effects of various neuromuscular disorders including:
  • Cerebrovascular accident (CVA)/stroke
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Aneurysm
  • Multiple Sclerosis

In addition to neuromuscular rehab services, Bethel Home provides evaluation and skilled therapy services for residents with a variety of musculoskeletal dysfunctions including:

  • Total joint replacements
  • Post fracture repair
  • Post surgery weakness
  • Shoulder injuries
